To kick off its fourth annual “Week of Greatness,” athletic retailer Foot Locker unveils two new commercials starring comedian Tracy Morgan. The week begins Nov. 21.
“I had a great time working with Foot Locker and was grateful to work with my wife and daughter in one of the spots,” Morgan said in a statement. “It means a lot to me to be able to team up with Foot Locker on their ‘Week of Greatness.’ I’m happy to do this for my fans and hope to make them laugh during one of the biggest weeks of the year.”
The 30-second spots, titled “Imitators” and “Greatness in Common,” were created by worldwide agency BBDO. For the “Imitators” commercial, Morgan talks about having to come back strong so people can’t take his place, and for the “Greatness in Common” ad, Morgan compares his return to Foot Locker’s “Week of Greatness,” which includes the comedian popping out of a cake during Green Bay Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ birthday party, a party Morgan wasn’t invited to.
“We’re excited to unveil our two new commercials featuring Tracy Morgan to kick off our annual ‘Week of Greatness,’” said Stacy Cunningham, EVP of marketing for Foot Locker. “We enjoyed working with Tracy to usher in his own return to greatness as part of our holiday campaign. This week is all about bringing new premium sneakers, apparel and gear into the hands of our customers and we’re happy to do that in such a fun way.”
The sneaker releases for the campaign include premium drops from brands including Nike, Adidas, Jordan, Under Armour, Puma, Timberland, New Balance and ASICS. There will be new releases daily throughout the week, which can be seen on the retailer’s website via its Launch Calendar.
