Jessica Alba attended the 2015 Third Annual Forbes Women’s Summit: Transforming The Rules Of Engagement event on Wednesday, sporting pink Casadei heels.
The actress and entrepreneur was there to talk her Honest Company and how she has maintained and started a $1 billion business.
Often known for her fashion, good looks and movie roles, Alba said,”People just saw me as this girl in a bikini in movies kicking butt—maybe not the brightest bulb. It took three and a half years of condescending nods and pats on the back . . . They were just like ‘You idiot, how are you going to do this? Go back to like endorsing things. Go do a perfume.'”
Alba’s consumer good company, Honest, launched in 2012 and emphasizes non-toxic household products. The mom wanted products she could use on her babies that were effective, safe, eco-friendly, convenient, and affordable.
On her success, she said, “One billion feels like a small number for the opportunity of what’s possible. For me, as a person at home with my kids? It’s crazy. It’s awesome.”
Ivanka Trump was also in attendance to discuss her brand, the Trump Organization and female entrepreneurship. According to Forbes, “She was frustrated by brands advertising what she saw as caricatures of workplace wardrobes — black pantsuits and briefcases.”
During the panel, she said, “The whole positioning of my brand is great product, accessibly priced, for this next generation of working women.”
