adidas Launched a New Sports Bra Collection That Provides the Perfect Fit and Support for All

In addition to the many barriers to entry already at play when it comes to working out, sports bras rank pretty highly up there.

They rarely fit correctly, so much so that it’s hard to know what a correct fit is even supposed to feel like. Luckily, adidas saw this problem and chose to fix it once and for all with their new line of sports bras that are not only backed by feedback from women, but by extensive research. On Monday, February 14, adidas will unveil a sports bra collection for every single woman of every single shape and size. It will fully address the impact that poor support has had on women in sports. The collection is available today on the adidas site, as well as on their mobile apps.

Mikaela Shiffrin, the two-time Olympic Gold Medalist and World Cup alpine skier, who has described sports bras as the ultimate consideration when she’s training, explained that when the fit of her sports bra isn’t right, “it throws me off and I lose focus.” adidas has also tapped Jessamyn Stanley, who is a yoga teacher and advocate of body positivity; as well as Lisa-Marie Kwayie, a sprinter and a European Championships medalist; Ellie Goldstein, a British model; and Rola, who is a Japanese actress and TV personality.

The collection includes 43 new sports bra styles, which will be launched across 18 different product franchises. The bras will range in price from $36 to $84, offering designs that are intended to help women feel supported while lounging or doing daily activities, as well as studio bras for yoga and pilates. Plus, the sports bras have key fabric features that combine comfort and support when you need it most, like Aeroready moisture-absorbing technology to keep you dry and cool. Best of all, you’ll notice these sports bras are made with recycled materials, further emphasizing adidas’ commitment to sustainability.

In need of a high-impact sports bra? The collection will also include training bras that will provide support during high intensity workouts., including styles that have high necklines and offer medium-support, along with subtle openings to improve breathability. To truly tailor your sports bra for the perfect fit, this line will also include bras with 360-adjustability.

“There is a sizeable data gap when it comes to sports bra development, so we worked with experts in breast health, University of Portsmouth, to challenge ourselves and drive forward our innovation to better meet the needs of our female athletic community,” explained Amy Charlton, who is the senior director product at adidas. “It was a significant undertaking with an all-female team of designers, testers and experts, and we hope this collection will help more sports bra wearers experience the benefits of added support and a better fit, and not be held back when doing the sports they love.”

Charlton explained that adidas conducted extensive research to figure out how to design styles that would provide the best support for the widest range of body types. The brand also partnered with Professor Joanna Wakefield-Scurr, who is the head of the research group in breast health at the University of Portsmouth, to learn about about why breast support during exercise is not only helpful, but critical to overall health. “Unknown to many, athletes may require the same amount of breast support during power walking as they do during sprinting,” explained Wakefield-Scurr.

In working with the breast health research team, adidas found that breasts that are not properly supported during exercises can experience the same G forces as a Formula One driver, which can result in significant and potentially damaging skin stretch.

Finally get the support you need for everyday activities and intense workouts with some of our favorite styles from adidas’ new collection.
