Vans has partnered with West Coast-based artist and musician Chris Johanson to create a new collection designed with sustainability and the environment in mind.
Available now is Johanson’s “Be Cool to Your Living World” collab that includes a four-sneaker lineup along with matching apparel. At the center of the project is the footwear, which consists of two Vans Authentic styles as well as the UltraRange and Destruct silhouettes.
For the collaborative Authentic shoes, Johanson dressed them in a contrasting multicolored and black-based color scheme and according to the product description, this design from the artist “plays between the techniques of figuration and abstraction, as he sees these two modes of working as interconnected expressions of the complexities of environmentalism, compassion, and peaceful co-existence.”
Sticking with the theme of conservation, the upper is constructed 100 percent organically grown cotton and is paired with jute fiber laces, cork footbeds, and an outsole made for naturally sourced rubber.
The remaining Ultrarange and Destruct styles are delivered in the aforementioned multicolored and slate color palettes, respectively. Both pairs also use organically grown cotton for their uppers, cork insoles, and natural rubbers on their outsole.
The entire Chris Johanson x Vans “Be Cool to Your Living World” collection is now available at Vans.com and at select Vans stockists. The sneakers retail for $75 to $110.
