Katy Perry stepped out this weekend sporting a ubiquitous spring/summer footwear trend: big toe sandals.

Enjoying new motherhood with baby Daisy Dove, the pop star and American Idol judge was snapped carrying her little one on the beach in Santa Barbara, Calif. on Saturday.

The 36-year-old “Cry About It Later” singer styled a pair of strappy tan big toe sandals with an oversized blue and white striped tunic and accessorized with a straw hat and pink floral mask. Perry, who was joined by her fiancé Orlando Bloom, dressed little 7-month-old Daisy in an adorable floppy white sun hat, a matching top to shield her from the sun, and blue shorts.

We’ve been seeing celebs showing off the big toe sandal trend for a few years now. The look gained traction in the summer of 2019 and has yet to disappear. Gabrielle Union, Katie Holmes, Lori Harvey and Sofia Vergara are just a few names that are fans of the style, which offers a laid-back appeal that’s reminiscent of the 1990s.

The new mom, who launched her namesake collection in 2016, is typically known for bolder shoe choices.

“I like my shoes to tell a story through the heel, [asking]: ‘Can it be this or can it be that?’ Perry told FN of her brand in 2018. “I’ve tried to put many a different figure or ornament on the heels just to tell a story and to hopefully start conversations via your feet wherever you’re going, whatever you’re doing.”
