Gigi Hadid provided another major street style moment for a trip to the salon yesterday, wearing slides that merge comfort and contemporary style.
Hadid, 26, is an undeniable style star, frequently wearing looks that blend chic separates with casual streetwear. If you needed further proof, consider the outfit she wore in New York City yesterday — a rare outing without her baby daughter, Khai, who Hadid welcomed with boyfriend Zayn Malik last September.
The recent mother and face of Maybelline was spotted in a pair of gold silk pants and a floral crochet polo shirt, accessorized with a wooden beaded necklace, Loro Piana leather handbag and skinny sunglasses. For footwear, Hadid slipped on a sharp pair of Franco Sarto’s white leather Bordo slides. The minimalist slides, which features a wide strap and square toe, retail for $99 on Sarto’s website.
The slide has been a popular footwear choice this season, worn in numerous varieties by stars including Sophie Turner, Heidi Klum and Angelina Jolie. Though brands such as Bottega Veneta, Saint Laurent and Valentino have created high fashion versions of the humble shoe, Hadid’s are starkly minimalist and affordably priced. Her Sarto slides also channel sharp 1990s style, which is on the rise from revivals and reunions of shows such as “Friends” and “Sex and the City.”
The catwalk queen also proved her focus on trends with a crochet polo. Featuring pink embroidered flowers over a pastel yellow knit, the top is the latest piece stemming from TikTok’s viral crochet trend which debuted last spring. Celebrities like Harry Styles, Mindy Kaling and Olivia Palermo have been seen in various tops incorporating the open knit. Hadid’s polo, like her slides, is similarly affordable, currently retailing for $60 on Mango.com.
The Versace model’s shoe choices typically veer on the more casual. She frequently wears sneakers by Nike, Puma and Reebok, which she collaborated with on a capsule collection in 2018. Slides are one of her longtime favorites, which she’s worn from brands like Adidas, Ugg and Alexander Wang. However, Hadid’s also known for wearing show-stopping heels, favoring pointed-toe pumps, boots and strappy sandals by Stuart Weitzman, Christian Louboutin and Giuseppe Zanotti for formal occasions.
This year has been an impressive one so far for the Maybelline muse, who’s been learning the joys of parenting with Khai. The model opened and closed Versace’s Fall 2021 show earlier this spring — her first since giving birth — and appeared on the cover of the March issue of “Vogue.” We’re already looking forward to seeing her return to runways worldwide when Fashion Month resumes this September.
