Cardi B surprised fans yesterday with the announcement of her next single, “Up,” which drops this Friday.
Teasing the new song on social media, the rapper unveiled the cover art in the boldest manner. For the imagery, Cardi B can be seen posed atop a swinging clear chair in nothing but J. Maskrey stick-on skin jewels; the pink glittering accents included perfectly placed panels coated in dangling fringe and a sequined finish.
Styled by Kollin Carter, the color scheme continued into the “WAP” musician’s footwear of choice courtesy of Versace.
The chain-link Medusa sandals come set atop an angled 4.25-inch heel, all coated in a sleek metallic pink colorway. The foot stays secured by two thick chain straps across the ankle and toe, all balance upon a squared silhouette for an on-trend finish. You can shop the style for $1,175 at Saks Fifth Avenue.
On Sunday, the “Bodak Yellow” rapper took to Instagram last night to tease fans with a new video and a bold look, captioning the post “I got a announcement tomorrow.”
In the clip, the New York native showed off her standout taste as she strutted down the stairs in a denim bikini with a matching floor-sweeping duster coat and buckled leg garters. She then accented the look with a Christain Dior headscarf, choker and coordinating netted purse with bold footwear to tout.
The lifted pair took inspiration from what could be considered a classic work boot silhouette, formed with durable tan leather uppers and a metal eyelet-laced closure; instead of coming set atop a ligged outsole, though, this pair featured a teetering stiletto lift. The design bears resemblance to Manolo Blahnik’s take on a work boot that has since sold out but once retailed for $1,295.
Deemed the Style Influencer of the Year for the recent 2020 FN Achievement Awards, Cardi B herself is a master of both luxurious apparel and athleisure fashion. She joined Balenciaga as the face of its fall ’20 campaign in September, with ads displayed across the Louvre in Paris.
The “Hustlers” star also continues to hold the ultimate hook-up for sportswear since partnering with Reebok in November 2018; together, Cardi B has helped the brand released a series of collections as she starred in a variety of campaigns and videos featuring embellished sneakers and vintage-inspired pieces before creating her own collection of footwear and apparel.
The Grammy Award-winning artist also recently filed paperwork with the United States Patent and Trademark Office in September in an attempt to trademark the term “WAP” for a variety of items from footwear to apparel to even alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
