Rosalía stunned fans last night with her debut of a new way to lace up your Nike sneakers.
The “Con Altura” musician took to Instagram last night in a video that showed how to turn Nike Air Force 1 sneakers into an espadrille style. The unique pair that the Nike model herself was sporting is catching steam for its rumored new detailing, set with elongated canvas laces that wrap up around the ankle.
The silhouette follows the iconic AF1 design with its layered paneling and exaggerated Swoosh but instead of leather uppers, this particular iteration appears to incorporate more canvas into its top layers. Swapping out a lifted white platform midsole as well, the sneaker takes inspiration from espadrilles with an exposed stitch and gum sole resemblance. Classic Air Force 1s retail for $90 at Nike.com.
The Spanish singer-songwriter simply captioned the post “AF1 ESPADRILLE” and even earned a comment of support from Mike “Upscale Vandal” Camargo, who is known for his sneaker expertise as a streetwear savant.
FN reached out to Nike about the Air Force 1 Espadrille, but the brand has not confirmed or denied its release by time of publication.
When it comes to her own style, it is a common occurrence to find Rosalía in daring pieces and standout designs. Her go-to brands range from more well-known picks like Prada and Louis Vuitton to independent labels including Ottolinger, Saks Potts and Imran Potato. As for footwear, the 27-year-old star owns an impressive selection of Nike and Air Jordan kicks — think Grateful Dead Dunks and Dior Jordan 1 Lows.
Rosalía also appeared in campaigns for Nike in July 2020, modeling its Air Max 2090 silhouette in a bold tiered skirt, leather leggings and a branded crop top.
