For spring ’21, top brands in the outdoor market will deliver tech-loaded trail running shoes for men and women that are sure to see ample time in the woods throughout the season. The models feature the latest and greatest in innovations such as Vibram outsoles and Gore-Tex waterproofing, as well as sustainable elements and proprietary technologies fans of the brands are familiar with.

Saucony Xodus 11
Arriving in April 2021 for $150 is the Saucony Xodus 11, a trail runner made with cushioning for long days on the trail in mind. It features the brand’s energy-returning Pwrrun+ cushioning compound that’s paired with protective rock plates underfoot. Also, it is equipped with aggressive multi-directional lugs on proprietary Pwrtrac rubber outsoles for traction on all terrains.
Salomon Sense Ride 4
The latest shoe from Salomon’s acclaimed Sense Ride franchise is designed with comfort in mind. It is built with Optivibe midsoles for improved shock absorption, giving the shoe what the brand is calling its “most cushioned ride yet.” Also, the trail runner features Profeel Film decoupled protective rock plates, the brand’s Contagraip MA outsoles for all-terrain grip and anti-debris mesh uppers that are also breathable and secure. It arrives in February and will retail for $120.
Merrell Moab Flight
Bearing the name of its most popular hiking silhouette, Merrell is set to release a Moab trail runner made for all conditions in March 2021. The Moab Flight is built with woven jacquard and recycled mesh uppers, recycled laces and mesh linings, Vibram EcoDura outsole and Merrell’s well-cushioned FloatPro midsoles. It will retail for $110.
Hoka One One Challenger ATR 6
For spring ’21, Hoka One One will deliver the Challenger ATR 6. The versatile look is made to take you from the street to the trail and is equipped with the brand’s stable and shock-absorbing CMEVA foam midsoles and rubber outsoles with 4mm lugs added with all-terrtain traction in mind.
Columbia Escape Ascent
Columbia will release a new silhouette for the season, the Escape Ascent, which is built with the brand’s energy-returning Techlite+ midsole and its Adapt Trax traction system. Also, it is equipped with Columbia’s Navic Fit lacing, which was designed to keep feet secure on uneven terrain. This will hit stores in February 2021 and retail for $130.
Icebug OutRun RB9X
Icebug will deliver the OutRun RB9X for the season, a rugged look built with eco-friendly components to tackle tough terrain. Retailing for $140 and arriving in March 2021, the shoe features protective TPU mudguards, the brand’s RB9X® outsoles made with 15% recycled rubber and Bluesign-certified uppers and linings (made of 100% recycled PET polyester and 100% recycled and solution-dyed polyester, respectively).
361 Degrees Yushan 2
For the 361 Degrees Yushan 2, the brand was focused on making this the best cushioned and most flexible shoe it could without slacking on all-terrain traction. It features durable and responsive Quikfoam cushioning, which is EVA-infused with rubber and coated in PU, molded heel counters for stability and toe shields for durability and protection. The shoe will hit stores in February 2021 and retail for $135.
