Since you probably love to shop, why not put your habit towards a good cause this March 8 (with little to no effort on your part)? Tons of retailers are gearing up to honor International Women’s Day, which celebrates women’s achievements and aims to raise awareness about gender parity. Brands like Gap, Vera Bradley and more are launching powerful initiatives that support women, including special product launches, donation efforts and empowering female-centric campaigns to spread awareness.
Even luxury Italian retailer Luisaviaroma is having a sale to commemorate the day — making it easier than ever to make a positive impact on more than just your closet every time you swipe your card.
Below, we’ve rounded up a range of retailers who are giving back on International Women’s Day. Everything from inspiring graphic tees to sneakers are available for a limited time, so you’ll want to nab your favorites before they’re gone.
1. Bergdorf Goodman
Department store Bergdorf Goodman has collaborated with artist Leah Tinari on a special logo called “Bergdorf GoodWoman,” which will be displayed across limited-edition T-shirts, Greats sneakers and a handbag capsule with Staud. Tinari has hand-painted four styles of Greats sneakers with the logo, which will be available at Bergdorf Goodman’s NYC Flagship store from March 8 to 24.
2. Forever 21
Forever 21 is partnering with Girls Inc., a nonprofit that supports girls through direct service and advocacy, on a capsule collection of pink clothing with empowering slogans like “Generation Femme” and “Girlfluence.” The brand will be donating $50,000 of proceeds to the charity.
Gap Inc. brands — including Gap, Banana Republic, Athleta and Old Navy — will be donating up to $135,000 to Care, a global nonprofit organization that supports women and children. The brands will also debut select product offerings to honor the holiday. Gap has partnered with women rights activists Noorjahan Akbar, Paola Mathe, Tammy Tibbetts and Christen Brandt to design a collection of “Forever Favorites” tees ($16), featuring inspiring words from each woman. Old Navy is offering a limited-edition collection of tees in stores and online with powerful messages like “I’m with Mama.” Meanwhile, Banana Republic is launching its Equality Collection capsule ($18 to $34.50) of limited-edition T-shirts and accessories. A donation of $5 from the sale of each item in this collection, up to a maximum of $80,000, will be made to Care until April 25, 2019.
March 8 to 11, Italian luxury destination Luisaviaroma will be offering 15% off all items sitewide (excluding items marked with a star), including full-priced and sale merchandise. The offer is redeemable with code WW15 at checkout.
Also partnering with Girls Inc., Madewell is launching a collection of clothing and accessories featuring a vibrant “Woman” design. Fifty percent of proceeds will go to the charity.
6. Nine West
Nine West has partnered with Dress for Success on Your Hour, Her Power, an initiative to support the economic empowerment of women around the globe. In conjunction with the initiative, the brand also launched its Sole Sisters campaign, featuring pairs of influential women who donated their time to Dress for Success and shared heartwarming stories about female empowerment on the brand’s website. Each woman highlighted rocks a pair of shoes from Nine West’s spring 2019 collection, which is currently available in stores and on the retailer’s website.
7. Vera Bradley
The accessories brand has teamed up with New Hope Girls, a non-profit organization that focuses on alleviating poverty for young girls in the Dominican Republic, on a limited release of hobo bags and travel pouches. The bags feature an exclusive Vera Bradley print designed by the girls’ mothers. The collection will be available in stores and online starting March 8.
