Ikea recently appeared to the sneaker community with a collaboration with Chris Stamp featuring clear, stackable shoe boxes allowing for a tidy way to organize your collection, and now it looks like they’re taking an even deeper step into footwear. The Swedish homewear design giant announced that a collaboration with Adidas is in the works.
The announcement came at the Democratic Design Days event, where the brand unveiled a number of their latest collaborative partners. A headliner of the group is the German sportswear brand, which Ikea says they’ll be working with to explore how sport and wellness can be more naturally integrated into life at home.
No actual product of the collab has been revealed yet, but the project will apparently have a focus on women’s sports and ways to make time for fitness in a busy lifestyle. The collaboration aims to offer intelligent designs to make working out at home more quick and easy.
Other collaborators announced by Ikea include beloved children’s toy brand Lego, industrial designer Stefan Diez and Solange Knowles‘ design collective Saint Heron. Ikea has also recently collaborated with the fashion world’s currently biggest name, Virgil Abloh.
