Kenzo Showed Coiled Heels for Spring

There was a serious verve to the Kenzo show at Paris Fashion Week, and every model had a real spring to her step thanks to some gravity-defying spiral-coiled heels.

Yes, Humberto Leon and Carol Lim took a buoyant approach when it came to the footwear and strappy sandals in candy-wrapper metallics boinged down the runway with joyous abandon, completing a collection inspired by the archives of Antonio Lopez and founder Kenzo Takada’s 1977 show at Studio 54 in New York.

This year’s venue, the Cité de l’Architecture & du Patrimoine, a museum of antiquities, may have lacked the likes of Grace Jones and Jerry Hall, but compensated with an equally quirky backdrop cast of characters, arranged as living statures in a series of tableaux to resemble their petrified counterparts. (The candy colored wigs were a bit of a giveaway, though.)
