Carol Goodhue, co-chairman of Two Ten’s WIFI mentoring program, is determined to usher in a new generation of female talent into the shoe industry.
Best advice I’ve received: “Everyone has to take a different path. It’s important for people to understand what makes them happy and the work that gives them the most fulfillment. If you love what you do, you’ll give it 150 percent.”
Biggest challenge for women: “When I first started in the shoe industry, it was male dominated. I thought it was odd since we were talking about women’s shoes. It’s about bridging the gap between men and women and how they can communicate with one another.”
Enticing young women into the industry: “At WIFI, we want to target future [female] leaders and work with footwear companies to identify and help groom them. It’s our goal next year to communicate with local colleges to bring [female students] into the fold of this great industry. We’re trying to bring fresh talent into the industry.”
