It’s a big move for the brand, which will turn to the actress to help design and style a fresh attitude for the label starting with the spring ’17 collection.
“I grew up looking at Candie’s ads and hearing my friends’ experiences as Candie’s girls, but the added influence of being named the first creative director is really exciting for me,” said Hyland. “I love fashion; it’s a part of who I am. I love that I get to have influence on this line because not only are the clothes really fashion-forward, but they are offered at an affordable price point, which means fans of mine can afford what we’re selling.”
Hyland follows in the footsteps of some very big names who have fronted the brand, including Fifth Harmony, Britney Spears, Lea Michele and Hilary Duff. But unlike the other Candie’s faces, she’ll be involved in design and the creative concepts for the campaigns, adding her California cool-girl aesthetic to the brand.
The iconic junior’s brand is growing up just a little bit with this choice. Hyland is known on the red carpet for wearing sophisticated, fashion-forward pieces with a relaxed styling to them. She’s spotted in labels like Giuseppe Zanotti, Jimmy Choo and Nicholas Kirkwood.
