A passion for vintage dressing was the jumping-off point for Spring Footwear’s latest Azura collection.
As a designer and product development manager for Spring Footwear, Gina Hope often looks to the past when designing for today. “I love vintage everything,” said the 31-year-old. “Every time I approach a season, I tap into that.”

While Hope admits to being a child of the 1980s, she was drawn to the 1960s and ’70s when crafting spring ’17 looks for the company’s Azura label. Some key styles for the season include sandals on block heels and wedges. “For the past year, there’s been a strong pop influence going down the runways,” she said. “[Designers] are going more graphic. There are bold colors, bold lines and lots of prints. Like fashions of the decade, it’s art popped with color and graphics.”
Hope also found some retro references on the small screen while tuning in to the Netflix series “The Get Down,” which is about New York’s Bronx borough in the 1970s. “It talks about the city and music of the times. It reminds me of things I saw growing up,” she said.
