Joseph creative director Louise Trotter looked to the British brand’s core values when designing the label’s first complete footwear collection, which launches for pre-fall ’16.
“At the heart of Joseph is the idea of luxury essentials and elevating the everyday. So I tried to think about the pieces we constantly look out for in our wardrobes: the perfect Chelsea boot or moccasin,” said Trotter, who reinterpreted menswear classics for women, including buckled loafers, brogues and flat boots.
The debut offering inspires the same sense of ease as the brand’s ready-to-wear. “I wanted everything to feel comfortable. There’s nothing worse than a shoe that hurts your foot,” said Trotter. “How a woman walks is very important to me.”
The Italian-made line also includes more feminine elements in the form of ballet flats, heeled boots and pumps.
And in keeping with Joseph’s commitment to quality, the shoes are created using rich materials such as snakeskin and corsaro leather, which is designed to improve with age and wear.
The collection hits stores in June and will sit alongside the pre-fall ready-to-wear collection. Prices will range from $420 to $680.
