California-cool footwear label Charlotte Stone found inspiration in the groovy 1970s for its fall-winter 2016 collection.
Earthy colors and rich fabrics are featured in the brand’s signature heels, booties and slides, which have been released online and to retail partners, with more styles rolling out in August.
Founder Charlotte Stone told Footwear News that she wanted the new styles in her namesake label to nod to the past, but with a “clean, modern twist.”
“I used crepe rubber, which always reminds me of old chukkas, but it looks new as a winter espadrille and on a calf-hair gored bootie. And, of course, it’s so comfortable,” the designer shared. “We brought in some gorgeous velvet to update our best-sellers and introduced a new closed-toe clog in rich oiled calf suede.”
Stone’s new Marlo clog is a versatile, every-occasion shoe that features a chunky block heel and color-contrast stitching, available in gray, rust, navy blue and leopard print.
“It’s high enough to feel sexy, but I can walk all day in them,” Stone added. “They’re effortless, and they go with everything.”
