PSVA Unisex Shoe Brand Launches On Kickstarter With Liquid-Repellent Styles

When it comes to fashion, Shawn Soares believes it’s all about the essentials. And so, the entrepreneur has stepped into the shoe industry with Wednesday’s launch on Kickstarter of PSVA, a concise collection of classic boots and sneakers that also happens to repel liquids.

According to Soares, the unisex brand takes its name from the word perseverance, a trait he holds dear in both his everyday and business lives. A novice to the shoe business, Soares wanted to bring functional, yet fashionable looks to consumers at accessible price points by going direct to the buying public.

The two-style collection is available in men’s and women’s sizes and includes a Chelsea boot with novelty zipper treatment at the back and classic lace-up sneaker in a range of colors. All styles feature a leather finish that helps repel everything from water to chocolate syrup.

For a Kickstarter pledge starting at $100, consumers will receive a pair of boots or sneakers. Bump that up to $220, and they will receive a pair of each. The maximum pledge of $600 includes two pairs of sneakers and three pairs of boots. Delivery is expected in September, with international delivery available.

According to Soares, as he begins his shoe journey, he’s mindful of those less fortunate and is pledging 3 to 4 percent of profits to The Shoe That Grows, an Idaho-based organization that provides kids globally with a unique sandal design that allows the shoe to grow with them. The sandal adjusts five sizes and can last up to five years of wear. It’s also easy to transport since it compresses into itself.
