There’s a new gold standard in footwear.
Italian label A&E Fashion Group presented handcrafted 24-carat gold shoes that retail for around $18,000 to $24,000 (€18,000 to €20,000) at the Leatherworld Middle East conference in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on April 26.

The bespoke footwear is produced in Italy and is available in platinum and in a silver finish, as well as other customizations.
In a statement to Footwear News, a representative for A&E Fashion Group said that the gold and precious materials are “not applied, but sewn with the leather used for footwear.”
The rep adds that the “novelty” of the luxury shoe is that the precious material is “an integral part” and “not its accessory.” Orders are taken by appointment.
The production process takes around six weeks and includes a serial number. “Every shoe is unique — never equal to another model,” the rep added.
