The 50th anniversary party continues at Vans this month with a new extra-special collection. The sneaker brand unveiled a new capsule line of kicks inspired by its iconic black-and-white checkerboard pattern.

The new collection features four new colors, including pink and blue, and has a distinctly 1970s retro flavor to it. The checkerboard has become as well known as the brand’s silhouettes, such as Sk8-Hi and the Era, thanks in part to the shoes’ appearance in the 1982 movie “Fast Times at Ridgemont High.”

The checkerboard collection is the latest special collection by Vans honoring its history this year. Previously, the company unveiled a collection of gold-checked slip-ons and a special collection of the Sk8-Hi sneakers.
