Soccer forward Christen Press is one of the U.S. Women’s National Team’s brightest stars. In the three years since she was called up, the 27-year-old athlete from Palos Verdes Estates, Calif., has become a leading scorer for the team, with a total of 33 goals.
Her first international competition was the 2015 World Cup, where she played in four games and scored the winning goal in the opening match against Australia.
But Press is no stranger to global football. Before she joined the Chicago Red Stars pro team in 2014, she played for three seasons in Sweden’s premier league. Along the way she helped Göteborg FC win the Swedish Cup in 2012, and in 2013, while playing with Tyresö FF, she became the first American to lead the league in scoring.
Press’ footwear of choice on the field are the Nike Mercurial Superfly cleats. The boots are designed for high-speed play, featuring a contoured spike plate to encourage natural movement and a lightweight textured Flyknit upper that enhances the connection with the ball.
Before heading to Rio, the Women’s National Team will play one more send-off game on Friday, July 22, against Costa Rica at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kan.
