The women’s NCAA championship game tonight between the UConn Huskies and Syracuse Orange is high stakes, and Nike is at the center of it.
While the Syracuse women look to clinch their first championship in program history, the University of Connecticut is looking to make some history. If UConn prevails, the school will have won four straight titles in a row, which no women’s team has ever done. A win would also give coach Geno Auriemma 11 national titles — one more than legendary UCLA men’s coach John Wooden.
The UConn women have been wearing Nike KD8 Elite player’s edition sneakers on the court. The shoes feature a white upper and knit ankle sock. A husky is depicted on the heel and “UConn” is printed on the sole.

Meanwhile, the Syracuse women usually wear orange Nike Zoom HyperRev 2015 sneakers.

Not only did Nike outfit these two teams, the company outfitted every single team in both the men’s and women’s Final Four — including the men’s champions, the Villanova Wildcats, which defeated the North Carolina Tar Heels on Monday night in Houston.
Tonight’s tipoff from Indianapolis is at 8:30 p.m. ET, with the game airing on ESPN.
