A rare pack of shoes featuring every Nike model Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant wore during his 20-year NBA career has sold for $30,101 in an eBay auction.
An anonymous user bid 10 times and upended four other bidders for the prized collection after the three-day auction ended at noon on Saturday. A total of 17 bids were placed since it was listed at $24,000.
The Black Mamba Pack includes 13 pairs of hand-signed sneakers, and the proceeds benefit the Kobe and Vanessa Bryant Family Foundation, which supports youth and families in need by providing both financial resources and developing programs.
The basketball star celebrated his retirement from the NBA on Wednesday after his final game with the Lakers, a victory over the Utah Jazz, 101-96, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Kobe’s new Nike 11 Mamba Day iD shoe was released on the night of his final bow.
Before signing with Nike, he previously had a deal with Adidas at the start of his rookie season.
