Russell Westbrook may not get as many headlines as Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry, but the Oklahoma City Thunder baller is quietly putting together an incredible season statistically.
With his triple-double last night on the road at the Pepsi Center in Denver against the Nuggets, the Jordan Brand-sponsored athlete tied NBA legend Magic Johnson for the most triple-doubles in a season. Westbrook’s 13 points, 14 rebounds and 12 assists gave him his 17th triple-double in 2015-16. The guard has the chance to eclipse Johnson’s mark with four more games to go before the playoffs.
Westbrook has been outperforming the competition in style this season, not just with his game on the court but also with his kicks. The product of UCLA has hit the court in different iterations of Air Jordans.
The explosive guard is the face of the latest Michael Jordan signature shoe, the Air Jordan XXX, and has hit the court in a number of player’s edition colorways. Westbrook was in a black, gray and white colorway of the Air Jordan XXX last night against Denver. But Westbrook hasn’t limited the court-ready heat to the Air Jordan XXX; he’s worn a number of bright and bold colorways of the Air Jordan XX9 as well.
But his eye-catching footwear isn’t limited to what he wears on the court. Westbrook even arrives to games in style, often wearing his signature lifestyle shoe, the Westbrook 0.
Westbrook and his Oklahoma City squad visits the Trail Blazers tonight at Portland’s Moda Center.
