Designer and Kith owner Ronnie Fieg’s creations have made him a steady-rising force in the footwear industry. And his star-studded Kithland presentation on Sept. 13 at Samsung 837 in New York will only further bolster his position.
Fieg’s show featured a mid-’90s urban vibe, with a soundtrack provided by A-Trak boasting New York rap classics from the likes of Blahzay Blahzay, Notorious B.I.G., Mobb Deep, Craig Mack and others. Enjoying the legendary tunes were stars of music and sports, including rappers Rick Ross and Ja Rule, NBA player Victor Oladipo and New York Giants receiver Victor Cruz.
But the music provided by Atrak wasn’t the only vehicle for attendees to enjoy throwback rap music — Fieg separated the segments of his upcoming line with performances by Fabolous, The Lox and Ma$e. Also separating the collections were clips from legendary movies including “Scarface,” “Taxi Driver” and “Ski Patrol.”
Despite the stars watching and participating in Fieg’s showcase, the designer’s collection shined the brightest — led by stellar footwear.
Separated by the categories Beach, City and Mountain, the designer displayed an array of sneakers, boots, slides and more for his fans to choose from — which could now be viewed on kithset.com. Highlights include Fieg’s outdoor standouts such as his hiking boot collab with Off-White, the Fracap RF-120 boot, the Timberland Gore-Tex 6. For sneakers, Fieg’s the New Balance Made in USA 997.5 Cyclades, Adidas Consortium Ultra Boost Mid, and Asics Salmon Toe Collection (which includes the Gel Lyte III and the Gel Lyte 3.1) are all sure to turn heads.
But the collaboration that’s sure to get the most buzz until its release is the Ronnie Fieg x Bapesta “Fiegsta,” a pair of monochromatic silhouettes that are part of his collection with A Bathing Ape.
