After injuries have kept Rafael Nadal out of many major competitions, the tennis star triumphed to nab the gold medal in the men’s double’s category at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
Nadal and playing partner Marc Lopez won gold for Spain on Friday while wearing Nike sneakers.
The King of Clay wears customized NikeCourt Lunar Ballistec tennis shoes and has a curated collection of apparel and companion footwear on Nike.com.
The Spanish athletes defeated Romania’s Florin Mergea and Horia Tecau, 6-2, 3-6 and 6-4.
Meanwhile, Team USA’s Steve Johnson and Jack Sock, also Nike-sponsored athletes, won bronze medals.
Nadal missed out on the 2012 London Games after suffering an injury, but he prevailed at the 2008 Beijing Games, winning gold in the singles category.
