Puma has unveiled the latest shoe in its Disc franchise.
This time around, the BMW X-Cat Disc sneaker takes inspiration from the BMW GINA Light Visionary Concept Car, which itself featured material on the outside instead of metal.
The shoe uses Puma’s Disc technology, which tightens a shoe through turning a dial as opposed to using laces. An internal wire system wraps and secures the upper for a snug fit.

The futuristic-looking sneakers feature an upper made of silver stretch fabric that is similar to what’s used on the concept car. The laser-cutting across the front of the shoe is designed to resemble the “gill-like texture” that appears on the concept car when the doors are opened. Of course, Puma’s iconic stripe is still there — on the outer of the shoes, in a reflective print — and a BMW logo is featured on the Disc.

On Friday, the shoes will be available to purchase on Puma.com, as well as in select stores worldwide.
In the spring, Puma released the Ignite Disc Sleeve silhouette that also incorporated Disc technology.
