Pro Skateboarder & Model Dylan Rieder Dies From Leukemia Complications

Pro skater Dylan Rieder died Wednesday at age 28 following complications from leukemia. The skateboarder and model was surrounded by friends and family.

At age 9, Rieder started skating and turned pro at 18 for Alien Workshop with his breakout role in Transworld Skateboarding’s 2006 video “A Time to Shine.” Throughout his career, shoe sponsors included Gravis and Huf. Rieder was also an owner of a New York antique shop and online retailer called The Hunt.

With Rieder having appeared in an ad campaign for DKNY — alongside models Cara Delevingne and Jourdan Dunn — both the fashion and skateboarding community responded to the news of his passing via social media.

Delevingne posted on Instagram, “One of the kindest, most down to down, incredible human beings I have ever encountered.”

In memory of Dylan Rieder, 1988-2016.
