Pensole Academy Launches a Master Class for Sneaker Designers in Boston

Ever fantasize about designing a perfect pair of kicks?

Pensole Design Footwear Academy might just be the place for you. The school, which offers a hands-on curriculum led by industry professionals, teaches students the entire footwear process, from concept and development to marketing and networking.

The latest addition to its course roster is Pensole Master Class, taking place from Jan. 4-25, 2017, at New Balance’s Research & Design Center in Lawrence, Mass.

Registration is currently open online for design students who want to be considered for the class. The final selection of 20 students will be announced on Dec. 9. Top students will have the opportunity to be considered for a one-year apprenticeship at the New Balance Design Foundry.

New Balance will provide scholarships that include tuition and housing for the aspiring designers, where they will be assigned New Balance projects to develop.

“This is our inaugural engagement with New Balance, and we’re very excited to partner with the company’s design team,” said D’Wanye Edwards, Pensole’s founder. “As with all Pensole programs, this is not a typical academic setting. At the end of the three weeks, these students will have a different outlook on design, themselves and New Balance.”
