Two heritage outdoor brands are pooling their fashion resources this spring.
Xtratuf boots and lifestyle label Filson have joined forces for the creation of the Filson 15″ Legacy Boot. Set to launch on Feb. 12 in limited quantities, the bootwill be available exclusively on Filson.com and Xtratufboots.com. The performance style features Filson’s signature colorway and will retail for $140.
Filson is a legacy label in the rugged market, created in 1850 in Seattle, Wash. It offered sturdy gear for those seeking their fortunes during the Klondike gold rush days that included boots to moccasins.
Xtratuf and Filson make a natural pairing, with the boot brand’s more than 50-year commitment to protective footwear targeting Alaska’s fishing community and often referred to by its fan base as the Alaskan sneaker. The waterproof boot is made of a blend of rubber and neoprene for flexibility and is engineered to withstand severe conditions such as cold temperatures, slippery surfaces and a broad range of corrosives and contaminants. To make a day on the high seas even more comfortable, the boot also features a built-in cushioned insole and chevron outsole design for enhanced grip.
The performance boot has also been garnering an audience among Alaska-based reality show cast members. Among the shows are The Deadliest Catch, The Last Frontier and Alaska Bush People.
