The fashion world continues to get smaller.
Novesta, a collection of classic sneaker looks produced in Slovakia, is making its U.S. debut today. The launch series includes a duo of unisex looks — the Star Master, a low-top style; and the Star Dribble, a high-top.
The company began in 1939 in the town of Partizánske. From the beginning, Novesta has been dedicated to manufacturing eco-friendly shoes using materials that include natural rubber, cotton and linen.
“We are thrilled to introduce Novesta to the states,” said North American brand manager Matt Butlett. “Ecological footwear is important to the American consumer. Addressing that preference with such dedicated care in manufacturing produces a classic sneaker that will appeal to men and women across the country.”
The sneakers are available in a range of colors including beige, which comes with outsoles in ecru and transparent, platan (khaki), red, military green, India blue, black and white. The Star Master retails from $89 and the Star Dribble for $99. They’re sold in such retailers as Madison in Los Angeles, Lone Flag in Del Mar, Calif., and Love Gang in New York.
