With the 2016 Roland-Garros tournament (the second Grand Slam event of the season) now here, Nike has a shoe built that is geared toward play on a clay court not only for its sponsored athletes in the competition but also for any and all tennis players.
The Paris-inspired colorway of the NikeCourt Air Zoom Ultrafly Clay retails for $220. The shoe is available via the brand’s website, nike.com and select Nike retailers.
The shoe, according to the brand, features an upper constructed with a flexible skin to prevent clay from getting inside, as well as a traditional herringbone pattern on the sole for traction. The latest colorway of the shoe features a predominantly blue color palette, using the brand’s loyal blue, racer blue, deep royal blue and white hues.
For those interested in the shoe in other colorways, a volt, black and white colorway is also available for the same retail price.
The tonal-blue colorway is also featured throughout the brand’s collection of apparel and footwear released in conjunction with the tournament. According to Nike, it is using France’s signature color to reflect Paris’ reputation for timeless style.
The qualifying rounds of the 2016 Roland-Garros kicked off today. The tournament itself begins May 22 and ends June 6.
