Ahead of NBA All-Star Weekend in Toronto Feb. 11-14, Nike is updating its members-only Snkrs app. The app had previously only been available for Apple iOS, but is now being introduced for Android and desktop users.
The app allows users access to sneaker releases and sends reminders of a shoe’s drop time. You can also store credit card information for quick purchasing, and get a behind-the-scenes look at how some of Nike’s sneaker designs came to be.
“The new Snkrs app and Web experiences connect consumers to our products, innovation and storytelling better than ever before and help them get better access to the sneakers they love,” said Matthew Siegel, Nike’s vice president and general manager of global digital commerce.
The updates give app users a more curated and personalized news stream and notifications. Nike is also ensuring heightened security during checkout.
Additionally, Nike has integrated The Draw—a sneaker release experience—that lets sneaker fans enter their shoe size and credit card info for a chance to purchase products that are in high demand. Winners are randomly selected.
Nike will use the Snkrs app during NBA All-Star Weekend to give its users additional exclusive access to sneakers including the Nike Air Force 1 Flyknit and Jordan XXX.
Meanwhile, Nike also announced that it has appointed its first Chief Digital Officer.
