Athletic brands are pumping out sneaker releases as of late to encourage a healthier, active lifestyle. Nike’s latest training sneaker features an aggressive look, name and technology that should encourage you to get you off your couch and into the gym.
The Nike Metcon 2 “Strong As Steel” drops Monday and will retail for $140.
The latest iteration of the brand’s cross-training shoe not only boasts a bold name but features a bold colorway as well. The Strong As Steel uses a simple two-color palette of total crimson and black, with total crimson taking up the shoe’s upper (with the exception of the black Swoosh branding), and a sole that features the two colors in a marble-like pattern.
From a performance standpoint, the shoe features a flat and stable platform built for the toughest of lifts, boasting a supportive and durable dual-density foam midsole. For traction and additional support, the shoe’s outsole boasts firm rubber in the heel and sticky rubber on the forefoot for both stability and traction. The shoe also utilizes a zero-drag heel for handstand pushups and Flywire technology for better foot lockdown.
The Metcon 2 became available for customization via Nike iD on Jan. 23.
