If you’re into fitness, a hardcore workout is how you start your week off right. Nike has a sneaker coming out Monday built for tough cross-training: the next iteration of its Strong As Steel collection.
The next Metcon 2 release will be delivered in arguably the collection’s cleanest colorway, boasting tonal grays from upper to outsole. The shoe features a wolf-gray, metallic silver, cool gray and anthracite color palette and retails for $140. This colorway, according to Nike, represents the “strength of alloyed steel and its ability to hold up the world around it, flexing with hardened power.”
The Metcon 2 is a good-looking shoe but is built for the most rigorous of workout routines. The shoe features a flat platform with stability in mind to conquer tough lifts; a supportive and durable dual-density foam midsole; an outsole with firm rubber in the heel and sticky rubber on the forefoot for stability and traction; a zero-drag heel for handstand push-ups; and the brand’s Flywire technology to lockdown the foot.
Prior to the tonal-gray release, Nike dropped two colorways of the Metcon 2 in the Strong As Steel collection: a total crimson-and-black colorway with a sole that features a marblelike pattern and a color palette featuring black, total orange, purple dynasty and gum medium brown.
Back in January, Nike shared why the Metcon 2 is the ultimate training shoe, highlighting its stability, flexibility, lockdown, and ability to hold up during handstand push-ups and rope climbs.
