Nike is set to drop a pair of Cleveland Cavaliers star guard Kyrie Irving’s latest signature shoe that may make you hungry.
The latest colorway of the shoe, according to the brand, is inspired by Irving’s favorite flavor of cake – red velvet. Although the shoe boasts a simple color palette, the appearance is still quite bold. The entire shoe features Nike’s team red hue, but boasts pink speckles throughout the midsole, which has a slight resemblance to frosting.
As with all Kyrie 2 releases, the shoe features the letters “JBY” on the inside of the tongue (which stands for Just Be You), as well as his jersey number, 2, on each heel.
The Kyrie 2 features a curved midsole and outsole inspired by Irving’s low-angled positions of movement on the court, designed to improve the ability to move side to side.
The shoe, according to a Nike statement when it was unveiled in December, “pushes the boundaries of Sir Isaac Newton’s laws of motion in ways that Dr. James Naismith, credited with inventing the game of basketball, never would have imagined.”
