Nike has paid tribute to TNT basketball sideline reporter Craig Sager’s wild style.
Bright colors and clashing patterns have been staples in his wardrobe — and now, as he continues to battle acute myeloid leukemia, Brand Jordan has honored the veteran broadcaster with sneakers inspired by his striking fashion sense.
Sneakerhead and rapper DJ Khaled has one of the two pairs in existence.
“Only 2 made for now … Thank u Craig Sager and Reggie saunders #SAGERVISON @jumpman23,” the social media star captioned images of the shoes on his Instagram page.
The wild kicks feature an assortment of colors, stripes, checkerboard and plaid patterns. The bottom of the sneakers are stamped with “Sager” on the right side and “Vision” on the left.
The 65-year-old was honored in July at the ESPYs with the Jimmy V Perseverance Award. During his acceptance speech, Sager spoke about his health woes, which he went public with two years ago.
“Whatever I might’ve imagined a terminal illness would do to my spirit, it’s summoned quite the opposite. The greatest appreciation for life itself,” he said. “So I will never give up. And I will never give in. I will continue to keep fighting, sucking the marrow out of life, as life sucks the marrow out of me. I will live my life full of love and full of fun. It’s the only way I know how.”
Sager has been a fixture in sports reporting since the 1970s. He has covered the industry for several outlets, including CBS and CNN.
