Air Jordans are coming to the big screen with a new collaboration between Nike an animation company Laika.
This latest collaboration marks the upcoming release of “Kubo and the Two Strings,” due in theaters later this month.
For this project, Nike tapped VP of Creative Concepts and famed Air Jordan designer Tinker Hatfield to create a mismatched version of the Air Jordan XV.
Unlike the original Air Jordan XV from 2000, this “Kubo and the Two Strings” rendition has been updated with details like zipper closures, leather heel panels, and “Kubo”-themed embroidery.
The last time we saw a collaboration between Nike and Laika was 2014’s “The Boxtrolls” Roshe One, and previous projects have included the “ParaNorman” Foamposite Ones and the “Coraline” Dunk High.
The “Kubo and the Two Strings” Air Jordan XV will be released through a online game known as Beast Battle on KuboTheMovie.com, with pairs being awarded to the 250 highest ranked players. Additionally, a handful of pairs are expected to be auctioned on eBay.
