Keen Footwear is going Hollywood. The company, known for its offering of land-to-water footwear, has announced its presenting sponsor partnership of this year’s International Ocean Film Tour. Now in its third year, the tour will kickoff April 22 in Portland, Ore., with a collection of seven short films about the sea.
“Water and adventure are two elements that, when fused, create a relationship that’s nothing less than magical,” said Nol Gerritse, Keen marketing director. “They’re elements that have been highly influential for Keen from the moment the brand was founded in 2003. We’re excited and honored to bring the energy of some of the most inspiring, engaging adventures to people around the U.S. in partnership with [North American distributor] Warren Miller Entertainment and [German media company] Moving Adventures.”
The event will take place at Portland’s Revolution Hall and hit 20 cities before wrapping up in Boulder, Colo., four weeks later. The films include “The Other Shore” (the Diana Nyad story), “Sonic Sea” (about oceanic noise pollution), “My Own Private Monster” (windsurfing off the Tasmanian Coast), “The Edge” (a shark-lover’s guide to the sea), “Hola Sunshine, Born Free” (free-diving with sharks) and “View From a Blue Moon” (a look at pro surfer John John Florence and his travels).
