Justin Kittredge is about to jump into some dangerous waters. The founder of ISlide, a maker of custom slides, will be seeking a deal on “Shark Tank “on Sept. 23, which marks the start of the ABC show’s eighth season. Helping him pitch his company on air will be one of the brand’s fans, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown.
The company, founded in 2013, makes slides that fuse fashion and athletics and partners with franchises such as the NBA, WWE and Def Jam Records. They can also be seen on celebrities Dwyane Wade, Kim Kardashian West, Justin Bieber, Ellen Degeneres and LeBron James, among others.
“I applied for three straight years and got denied the first two after making it past the first few rounds,” said footwear industry veteran Kittredge. “Finally, we had enough momentum to talk with a producer, and that was the foot in the door we needed to tell our story.”
In addition to logo products, consumers can order one-offs they design on the company’s website and choose their own graphics, colors and more.
When it comes to celebrity designs, said Kittredge, “Everything we do with any celeb or athlete are their ideas. They know exactly what their fans want.”
Bulk orders for teams or organizations can be placed using prepared logos or those created with the help of the company’s in-house design team.
In addition to the custom offering, core styles are available that include such graphics as #1 Dad, polka dots and a Hawaiian-inspired print.
