Last month, Footwear News, got a look at some of Diadora’s fresh upcoming styles for spring ’16. Now we’re learning that the N9000 Made in Italy sneaker will make its debut this week during a 1,500-kilometer (932 miles) relay race from Italy to Spain.
The race begins at Diadora’s production center in the northern Italian town of Caerano San Marco before heading toward the South of France and ending in Barcelona.
Runners hail from countries including the U.S., U.K., Japan, Italy, Germany, Spain, France and the Netherlands. There will be a team live-reporting from the race, as well as a camera crew and support team. Updates will be posted to makeitbright.diadora.com.
American fashion photographer Adam Katz was selected by Diadora as one of its “Hero Runners.” The sneakers are launching simultaneously with the race event.
The N9000, one of the brand’s ’90s retro runners, is being reintroduced in two colorways, both made with premium leather and nylon uppers.
Enrico Moretti Polegato, Diadora’s chairman and CEO, told Footwear News in August that Diadora’s newfound popularity and resurgence is also driving its performance-running and tennis-shoe sales, and planned to introduce new performance runners for spring ’16, including the N9000 and N-4100-2.
