Converse dropped several silhouettes from its vast catalog this year to show consumers it has more to offer than just the Chuck Taylor All Star. And the label is about to release another iconic sneaker from its archives.
The second limited release of the Converse Pro Leather ’76 “Vintage Suede” arrives on Monday and will retail for $80. The shoe will be available at Converse doors, converse.com, footlocker.com and select Foot Locker locations as part of the retailer’s Week of Greatness.
Converse said the shoe celebrates 40 years since its introduction, when it was worn by several stellar pro basketball players. The brand stated that the shoe is a throwback to its most authentic form while receiving contemporary upgrades, including a Nike Lunarlon sock liner.
“The updated Pro Leather ’76 is our latest release that honors the DNA of the original icon while also delivering more comfort and a contemporary style,” Bryan Cioffi, VP and creative director of Converse Global Footwear, said in a statement. “By introducing innovative Nike technology to a timeless classic, we’ve breathed new life into the iconic court silhouette and made it available for a new generation of young consumers to fall in love with.”
The shoe will come in four “vintage sport” colors: Grape, Yellow, Gray and Fire.
