With the Virgin Money London Marathon quickly approaching, running brand Brooks has prepared a reimagined iteration of its supportive running shoe inspired by the city’s rapid transit system.
The limited-edition Brooks “Rapid Transit” Adrenaline GTS 16 arrives April 15 in men’s and women’s sizes and will retail for $130.
The London Underground, also referred to as the Underground and the Tube, inspires the shoe’s design and color palette, including primary colors that resemble the colored Tube lines that people board. The shoe also features local landmarks and must-see areas of the city on the upper, a brick sockliner that resembles the external façade of the Tube station entrance, and red lace tips inspired by the red route.
“Following the success of last year’s London Ghost 7, we wanted to celebrate the United Kingdom’s most exciting race with a new eye-catching limited-edition design that brings to life a unique element of the culture,” said Shane Downey, global director of Brooks Running Company, in a statement issued today. “The all-new Brooks ‘Rapid Transit’ Adrenaline GTS 16 pays tribute to the London Underground, an iconic treasure that is well-known for connecting individuals and bringing the vibrant city together.”
The Adrenaline GTS 16 features a BioMoGo DNA midsole, a Progressive Diagonal Rollbar that helps guide the body into its natural motion pattern, a full-length segmented crash pad for smooth heel-to-toe transitions, and V-Groove folds to absorb and disperse impact outward.
The marathon will take place April 24.
