Andre Drummond is quickly becoming one of the NBA’s best players, and his skill on the court this season earned him his first NBA All-Star Game selection. With the game approaching, the Jordan Brand-sponsored Detroit Pistons star shared his thoughts with Nike on being named to the Eastern Conference team.
“I’ve worked so hard all summer, on being able to use both hands, attacking people from the elbow and being more aggressive with the ball. To be recognized for my hard work is incredible beyond words,” Drummond said.
The Detroit center is averaging 17.1 points and 14.9 rebounds per game this season, up from his career bests of 13.1 points and 12.4 rebounds.
While the star big man is currently focused on All-Star Weekend, Drummond’s ultimate goal is leading Detroit to the playoffs.
“Making the All-Star team is one goal that can be marked off the list – my next goal is to be in the playoffs. Detroit is a basketball town, and we are on a come-up right now,” he said. “However, I know I will have to take it up a notch after All-Star weekend and try to lead my team to the post-season.”
Drummond – who hits the court in the Jordan Dub Zero – is one of six Jordan Brand-sponsored athletes in the game. The center will also participate in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest on Saturday, attempting to beat reigning champion Zach LaVine of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
