On Monday night, the country’s two top-ranked teams will conclude the 2015 season in epic fashion at the College Football Championship in Glendale, Ariz., when the No. 1 Clemson Tigers face off against the No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide at 8:30 pm ET.
The evening is sure to be a no-holds-barred athletic contest between two fierce competitors vying for that coveted championship trophy.
But one participant won’t have to worry about competition: Nike.
The Beaverton, Ore.-based athletic powerhouse is the official sponsor of the College Football Playoffs and will outfit both Clemson and Alabama for the big game, as it did for their semi-final bouts against Oklahoma and Michigan State, respectively.
So it’s safe to say that the Tigers and Crimson Tide will be hitting the field at University of Phoenix Stadium in Swoosh spikes, but which ones exactly?
Watch on FN
Several of the players will be sporting the Nike Vapor Untouchable 2, the newest version of Nike’s lightweight football cleat, introduced last month. The shoe was developed using 3D printing to craft a spike plate that offers maximum traction and helps with lateral movement. It also boast a Nike Flyweave upper for a comfortable and adaptive fit, with a high collar for extra support.
At the Goodyear Cotton Bowl on Dec. 31, several Alabama players donned the Vapor Untouchable 2 in a sleek black colorway with white streaks along the side and a silver spike plate.
Other team members, though, including defensive back Cyrus Jones, opted for the Nike Vapor Carbon style, in black and white with neon accents.
At its Capital One Orange Bowl game on Dec. 31, many Clemson athletes, including wide receiver Artavis Scott, also chose to wear the Vapor Untouchable 2. But they picked a simple white colorway accented with pops of orange, seen on the Swoosh symbol, laces and spike plate. But we also spied some players hitting the gridiron in orange-and-white versions of the more eye-catching Nike Vapor Speed Low.
Whatever the guys decide to wear on Monday night, it’s sure to be a good showing for Nike.
