The second release in January for the Air Jordan 5 Retro Low makes its way to retail this weekend as Jordan Brand is set to launch another colorway of the silhouette.
The Air Jordan 5 Retro Low Alternate arrives Saturday and will retail for $175. It will also be available in grade-school, preschool and toddler sizes, with retail prices of $120, $75 and $55, respectively.
According to the brand, the shoe revisits the “alternate” idea of giving Michael Jordan player-exclusive colors when he was with the Chicago Bulls, as players in the league often receive today. The shoe features a black nubuck upper with gym-red accents. The midsole and outsole are black and gym red, and the tongue features reflective metallic hematite with gym-red Jumpman branding. The Jumpman branding also appears in gym red on the heels of the shoes.
Jordan Brand introduced the “alternate” concept with the Jan. 2 release of the Air Jordan 4 Retro Alternate 89, featuring a predominantly white upper with gym-red accents, a white and gymred midsole and a white outsole.
The first Air Jordan 5 Retro Low to hit stores this month was in the Chinese New Year collection, featuring graphic throughout the upper, which boasts a hidden basketball court and imagery reminiscent of fighter jets and traditional Chinese kites. The shoe hit stores Jan. 23, retailing for $200.
