Images of an Adidas Stan Smith sample equipped with Boost cushioning first appeared in September, a first for the seminal silhouette, which won the FN Shoe of the Year award in 2014.
And now, official images of the Boost-enhanced sneakers have surfaced, thus denoting that a release is likely on the horizon. This modernized version of the nearly 50-year-old model retains its simple white leather upper and signature green accents, with the biggest change occurring at the midsole, where a full-length Boost compound replaces the traditional rubber.
The concept of updating classic sneakers — particularly the Stan Smith — with modern technology is not a new one for Adidas. In 2015, the brand released Primeknit executions of the Stan Smith and Superstar.
Despite the emergence of these official images, a release date has not been confirmed for the Stan Smith Boost.
