Houston Rockets star guard James Harden is currently without a signature Adidas shoe, but he may be one step closer to getting one. Today, the athletic brand unveiled new branding for its sponsored baller.
Adidas showcased Harden’s new logo via Instagram on Tuesday, using the handle @projectharden. The logo was delivered via nine separate Instragram posts, each bearing a different element of the logo and a shoe that it sits on, with a bizarre and eerie video taking over the center post.
The four parts of the circular logo form an “H” in the center. The logo for the Instagram post is executed in red on a black shoe with two-tone black-and-red laces.
The brand provided no information on the logo or any upcoming sneaker release in the bio of the Instagram account, aside from a vague message: “Project Harden 4/11 M A R K.”
Adidas teased Project Harden last month at the #LVL3 showcase, an experience for fans ages 14 to 18 at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas that previewed its Crazy Explosive and D Rose 7 shoes before their release date. Aside from Harden, Adidas basketball stars who were in attendance included Derrick Rose, Damian Lillard and Andrew Wiggins.
Harden also recently starred in a Foot Locker ad for the retailer’s back-to-school push in which he speaks about the power of trusting the voices in his head, voiced in the commercial by actor Colin Farrell.
