Adidas Originals went into its archives last year to release updated and reimagined iterations of some of its iconic silhouettes. Its final modern take on a classic shoe of 2015 came in December when it released the NMD.
The brand hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down the NMD releases this year, as it is set to release another iteration of the shoe on Saturday. The NMD R1 Primeknit arrives this weekend with a $170 price tag.
The classic running silhouette boasts a bold yellow-gold, black and white color palette. The shoe features a predominantly gold Primeknit upper with an all-over noise graphic and black accents. The midsole of the shoe – using the brand’s Boost cushioning compound – is black and white, and is brought together with a black outsole.
The NMD uses classic design with the latest Adidas technologies, inspired by the brand’s iconic shoe history that also looks to its bright and promising future.
“When you see the future with no context, it could be confusing. But when you see the future with elements you recognize and are familiar with, it’s much easier to adapt into your life,” Nic Galway, VP of global design at Adidas Originals, told Footwear News back in December. “This project has been designed completely without compromise, with the freedom to express how we want to be seen as [Adidas] Originals in the future.”
