Prior to this NBA season, analysts shut down talk of a Portland Trail Blazers playoff bid. But the Damian Lillard-led squad defied criticism and earned a postseason spot.
To celebrate the work Lillard put in to lead his team to the playoffs, Adidas unveiled a new colorway of his signature shoe today, the D Lillard 2. The “Stay Ready” iteration drops Friday and retails for $115.
The latest colorway, according to the brand, is a testament to Lillard’s journey with the Trail Blazers from the beginning, boasting elements from the three-piece suit he wore in June 2012 on draft night. Those elements include a heather gray upper, leather detailing, an icy blue translucent outsole, and red and gold accents.
The shoe features the brand’s Boost responsive cushioning for greater energy return on the court, as well as a durable textile upper, all things necessary to complement Lillard’s explosive game.
The fourth-year guard out of Weber State in Utah is averaging 25.1 points, 6.9 assists and four rebounds per game this season. Lillard and the Trail Blazers have one more regular season game to go, a home game on the Moda Center court in Portland, Ore., against the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday.
Portland is set to face the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round of the playoffs.
